Camp
Activities

Famous Adventures provides campers with outdoor adventure opportunities in a physically and emotionally safe environment. We believe in experiential learning to promote personal development.

We envision a world in which campers grow up to become kind, responsible caretakers of the Lowcountry and the wider world.

SC Aquarium

Discovery Campers

Grades 1-3

Visit the South Carolina Aquarium with Discovery Camp. In the morning, we'll see the Great Ocean Tank show. After a break for lunch at a nearby playground, groups either return to the aquarium or play games outdoors for the afternoon.

Charleston Aquapark

All-Star and Adventure Campers

Grades 2-8

All-Star and Adventure Campers can challenge themselves on the ropes course and the floating obstacle course! Lifejackets and close-toed shoes are required. The Aquapark Lifeguards keep us safe, and our staff assist with group needs and play with campers.

Beach Day / Fossil Hunt

Discovery Campers

Grades 1-3

Our beach days are extra-safe. We'll set up near the lifeguards at the County Park areas of the beach. Campers cool off in knee-deep water and play games on the sand. We'll hunt for shark teeth and shells at one of our top-secret spots. Sunscreen is re-applied every 45 minutes on beach days.

Botany Bay

All-Star and Adventure Campers

Grades 2-8

Road trip to Edisto, SC for a special treat - the boneyard beach at Botany Bay. Depending on the tide, campers may also visit the Education Center at Edisto learn more about the ecosystems here. Travel time is about an hour. Campers may bring books or games; please don't bring candy, pens/markers, or electronics.

Camp Out Day

Discovery, All-Star and Explorer Campers

Grades 1-6

Our favorite day of Winter Camps comes to Summer! Groups build a campfire (or faux fire), make s'mores, play OG camp games, and make crafts (depending on group needs). Our staff and campers alike asked for the return of "best day ever"

Climbing Wall

Explorer and Adventure Campers

Wear yourself out at the climbing wall at James Island County Park. Campers can challenge themselves with staff-led games, or choose their own level of comfort to build confidence.

Dolphin Boat Tour

Discovery and All-Star Campers

Grades 1-6

Join Charleston Outdoor Adventures for a boat tour (pontoon-like boat) from Bowen's Island. See dolphins, of course, and learn about ecology, and explore Morris Island. Lifejackets are required, but we don't swim during this activity.

Surf Lesson

Explorer and Adventure Campers

Grades 3-8

Campers each get a one-on-one lesson with instructors at Isla Surf School, and play beach games on shore while taking turns surfing.

FAQs:

- Isla is our favorite local surf outfitter for safety and their one-on-one instructors.

- Campers don't have to surf if they don't want to.

- We surf in chest- to waist-deep water and gentler waves. Instructors and camp staff adjust for beginner to experienced abilities.

- Isla and Famous staff are trained for safety, including rip tides and beach hazards.

Water Parks

Discovery, Explorer, and Adventure Campers

Grades 1-8

A perfect way to end a week of camp! Discovery campers visit Splash Island in Mt Pleasant, Explorer heads to Splash Zone in James Island, and Adventure campers go to Whirlin' Waters in North Charleston. Parents can request their camper to wear lifejackets. Each water park is age-appropriate and has plenty of lifeguards available. Famous Adventures staff keep an eye on campers (and splash with them!)
